Watched 31 minutos season 2 episode 12 on Youtube. The one where they try to be an educational show. Probably one of my favorite episodes so far. Maybe I should make a list somewhere of my favorites...
An interesting sign in the background at 6:04 says "OFERTA!!! NOVELA RE100 ESCRITA 700 KG". I assumed the "re100" was slang, so I looked up "recién re100" and found an explanation on the website Cyber Definitions. Glad to be correct. I wonder how commonly used it is, since it only shortens the word by one letter.
Watched 31 minutos season 2 episode 11 on Youtube. The one where one of my favorite characters gets fired from the show. Unfortunately also an episode without any captions or subtitles. But there are plenty of comments quoting the video, as usual. All 4 sentences are from this video.
Finally went back to the 2016 document (which is now at least five years old...) and clicked on Transparent Language. Looks like a language-learning program that has lots of big customers, including the US government. Wasn't interested in paying for anything, but I checked out their word of the day page for Spanish and thought it was useful. The page has a Twitter widget so you can see examples without having to leave their website. Convenient. Today's word of the day is "a tu vera". Went around the internet and read lots of examples, then ended up on a Lola Flores song on YouTube. Understood zero percent of the song without looking at the lyrics, and maybe five percent while looking at the lyrics.
Looked back at my screenshots of interesting or confusing Clozemaster sentences. Here's one from last year: La conciencia es amargura. La inteligencia es decepción. Sólo en las afueras de la vida, se puede plantar una pequeña ilusión. Doesn't seem too complicated. The thing I'm confused about is the translation: Conscience is sorrow. Intelligence is deceit. Only on the outskirts of life can one plant a little illusion. I feel like it's a bit off? Maybe it's just me...
Watched 31 minutos season 2 episode 10 on Youtube. The one where Policarpo's secret is revealed. So many good jokes in this episode: Cosas Que Buscan Cosas, the giant bugs, the long shocked silence after the reveal. But they talk so fast, I had to keep rewinding.
Read a comic by Twitter user @RosemaryMosco about how companies publicly deny climate change while knowingly making it worse. The original is in English, then user @teoentrelibros translated it to Spanish. A couple quotes:
Watched 31 minutos season 2 episode 9 on Youtube. The one where everyone is terrified of rats, and a cat straight up dies. Watched at normal speed, and left the auto-generated captions off. Really wanna rewatch this series when I'm more advanced because I know I must be missing some really funny jokes.
